A furnace with a dirty filter uses more energy to heat your home. Check the filter at least twice during the winter and either vacuum or replace the filter.
Heating can be lost through your ceiling. Proper insulation will keep your home warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
On sunny days, open your drapes and blinds to let the sun act as a natural heat and light source. At night, close your drapes and blinds to retain heat. Turn blind louvers down toward the ground to help divert heat back into the room instead of trapping it between the blinds and the window.
